Do you use affirmations?

Many people use affirmations to manifest the things they want in life. Some also claim miraculous life changes through affirmations. It is the subject of many books, going back as far as What a Man Thinketh, The Power of the Subconscious Mind, Think and Grow Rich and most recently The Secret. I'm currently reading Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life. I love it. I have tried affirmations and twice it has worked for me but not every time. Have you tried affirmations? Have the use of affirmations been beneficial in your life. Please share your experiences with affirmations and list which books that have helped you the most.

Don't forget, each time you reply to my blog, you receive an entry in my contest to win a beautiful blue African Opal custom made ring. Winner will be announced on November 1st.

I'm reading "The Secret". It's sometimes really hard for me to not think negative thoughts, but I'm working on it. =)

I dont know if I have any actual affirmations, but I do make a point to try to avoid complaining.
I figure that either the problem that I would complain about can be fixed, in which case I should take the steps to do so, or it cannot be fixed, and complaining wont help, so it is time to just have a different outlook.
I refuse to allow circumstances to control how I experience my life.

I use affirmations everyday. I'm a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant on top of everything else I do and affirmations, vision boards, goal posters and everything else positive is a HUGE part of the business.

Positivity is just a matter of readjusting your thinking process.

Your brain is very much like a computer in the sense that it doesn't know the difference between positive and negative. It just does what you tell it to.

It takes 21 days to change a habit and if you just keep on trucking, eventually you really do change things around for the better.

Affirmations definitely work for me...:D

I think affirmations are silly, but I'm just naturally optimistic.

Yes, I definitely do, based on my faith tradition. We call them "confessions" because confession as it is used biblical writings means to "say the same thing as".

Judeo-christian tradition is very specific regarding the power of words...in the genesis story of creation, god is said to have "spoken" creation into existence- and we are taught in the same tradition that humans are made in god's image, so it follows that "life and death is in the power of the tongue".

I try to always make a conscious decision to use my words as blessing tools- for myself and in conversation with others:)

Yes, yes, yes, I use affirmations. They work wonders, plus I see a difference in my life when I am not using them. Recently, I started using them on my husband and I have noticed changes in him. He doesn't know it though.
